Application Process
Positions
There are two positions available each year on a highly competitive basis in the Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Arizona. Typically, there are more applications than available positions.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Arizona, you must have completed three years of training in an internal medicine residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). In addition, you should have completed a three-year ACGME-accredited gastroenterology program or an equivalent training program.
How to apply
Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education (MCSGME) does not process printed applications to this program. You must apply through the AASLD Application System.
The academic year begins in July. It is recommended that you apply during your second year of gastroenterology training.

- All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials
- After submission, view the required Supplemental Items and Documents

- Upload each required item in the Supplemental Items section (if applicable)
- Complete the Recommendation Request section (if applicable)
Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty.
Interviews are arranged on an individual basis and are offered to candidates deemed most competitive. Interviews are typically between March and April.
Appointment contract
Appointments are confirmed in a formal written letter of appointment from Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education. This letter, a copy of which you will be asked to sign and return, constitutes your formal fellowship appointment to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education.
