Overview

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship is a program within a diverse and inclusive culture that values teamwork, excellence, mutual respect, and dedication to putting patients first. The exceptional clinical training, grounded in Mayo Clinic’s three shields of clinical practice, education, and research, aims to promote the growth of future leaders in child and adolescent psychiatry. In the program, fellows gain expertise in the breadth of child and adolescent psychiatric practice, while being mentored in an environment that consistently lives out its values of patient centered care.

As a fellow, you’ll receive comprehensive training in taking the best possible care of children, adolescents, and families of all backgrounds within a collaborative and learner-centered academic environment that can be shaped to meet your education needs. This includes the opportunity for specialized tracks for research and education projects, certification in Parent-Child Interaction therapy, leadership roles, and specialized clinical experiences.

Program highlights:

  • Rotations that are fellow independent allow you to prioritize your educational goals.
  • Core rotations in comprehensive multidisciplinary programs in anxiety disorders, pain rehabilitation, and autism.
  • A robust outpatient program with continuity of care across both years of training.
  • Inpatient unit for children and adolescents with an emphasis on family-based care.
  • Residential addictions training at Hazelden Betty Ford.
  • Generous elective and scholarly time to tailor your training to meet your specific career goals.
  • A diverse population of community and tertiary-care patients.
  • Protected time for a comprehensive didactic curriculum that includes weekly didactic sessions, case conferences, and individual supervision with dedicated faculty.
  • Subspecialty tracks include the Research Track for fellows with an interest in clinical research, the Clinician-Educator Track for fellows to further their educational aptitudes, and the Young Child Track which offers certification in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
  • Teaching opportunities with Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine students and visiting students from other medical schools.
  • Encouragement and support to participate in research projects and presentations.
