From the director
"Why?" is at the heart of many questions you ask when embarking on the journey of residency training. Why pursue family medicine? Why train in a Mayo Clinic program? Why join our program in Eau Claire, Wisconsin?
These questions may seem complex, yet they have a simple answer. Why should you do anything? Because doing so complements your own mission for your life; because it resonates with your core purpose, your "why." What is our "why?" To boldly practice and teach forward-focused, comprehensive care.
The Family Medicine Residency at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, exists to develop exceptional family physicians prepared to lead and inspire forward-focused, comprehensive care for their communities. We train outstanding physicians to practice in and lead high-quality, patient-centered, team-based, full-spectrum care. Anywhere.
Our vision is to grow and empower future leaders of family medicine for their changing communities by being the most resilient and innovative program in the country.
Here you practice at the forefront of patient care and innovation, in an integrated organization that lives up to our primary value — "the needs of the patient come first." We focus on how to improve each patient's experience, improve quality, improve the value of care, and improve life at work for the health care team while simultaneously looking forward and ensuring we are part of driving the future of health care.
We hand-picked exceptional, energetic — and fun! — faculty members who all share the same core teaching principles. Guidance. Growth. Trust. We equip and challenge you to grow, support your resilience and journey integrated with both the art and science of medicine, and foster connection within our team, patients, community, and world.
Our program presents a bold world-class training opportunity in a vibrant community with an abundance of cultural events, outdoor recreational activities, and the natural beauty of northwestern Wisconsin.
We're looking for resident partners who share our "why" to join our program, practice, and community in Eau Claire. If that interests you, we can't wait to meet you.
