Holistic application and interview process

To optimize the justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in our interview process, we use a holistic review process which equally weighs a candidate’s attributes, experiences, and metrics. The holistic review process allows to avoid the bias that can result from only focusing on test scores. We value the “road traveled” and the applicant’s personal and professional character, leadership and communication skills, and educational background, just as much as, service activities, awards, and publications. We believe that a diverse team of fellows is a better one and one more capable of providing compassionate care to patients from diverse backgrounds.

All selection committee members have yearly training on how to mitigate implicit bias. All interviewers use a pre-set grading scale to evaluate attributes, experiences, and metrics.
