Application process

Full details of application process and policies for all Mayo Clinic Residencies and Fellowships can be found on our applications process page.

  1. ERAS submission: We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials.
  2. NRMP Registration: All appointments are made via the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Candidates must register through the NRMP website. Rarely, a limited number of positions may be available at the PGY-2 or PGY-3 level.
  3. Interviews: Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to interview at Mayo Clinic via the Thalamus platform and participate in a Zoom interview with the program director and selected faculty. Interviews will be conducted between October and December.
  4. NRMP Voluntary ROL Lock Pilot: We’ll be participating in the NRMP’s Voluntary Program Rank Order List Lock Pilot, which allows programs to “lock” their rank lists and create a transparent window during which interviewees can attend an in-person second look visit or engage with residents or program leadership without concern that rankings will change afterward. Visit the Voluntary Program Rank Order List Lock Pilot page for more details.
