Resident Life

Belonging and Inclusion

At Mayo Clinic, we are dedicated to building a workforce that mirrors the diversity of our patients and community. Our pediatric residency program is committed to supporting residents of all backgrounds and fostering a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered.

As a resident, you will have opportunities to:

  • Join Mayo Employee Resource Groups (MERGs), affinity groups that promote belonging, cultural awareness, and inclusivity.
  • Connect with mentors and colleagues through the OUTList, supporting LGBTI visibility, networking, and mentoring.
  • Participate in national conferences such as the Student National Medical Association and National Medical Association, where you can engage in best practices for inclusion and community building.
  • Get involved with the Mayo Clinic Trainee Belonging Committee, which mentors and supports applicants and trainees from underrepresented backgrounds in medicine.

We strive to foster an environment of teamwork, safety, and mutual respect, where every resident is empowered to thrive, personally and professionally.
