Complete your student loan entrance counseling session
Go to the Federal Student Aid website. Under "Manage My Direct Loan," sign in using your Department of Education FSA ID (the same username and password that you used to sign the FAFSA). Continue on by completing Entrance Counseling for Direct Loans.
Complete your master promissory note
Go to the Federal Student Aid website. Under "Manage My Direct Loan," sign in using your Department of Education FSA ID (the same username and password that you used to sign the FAFSA). Continue on by signing the Master Promissory Note for Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans or Direct Graduate Plus Loans.
Complete your Direct PLUS Loan application
Go to the Federal Student Aid website. Under "Manage My Direct Loan," sign in using your Department of Education FSA ID (the same username and password that you used to sign the FAFSA). Continue on by completing the Direct PLUS Loan request process.
Complete your private alternative loan application
Go to Mayo Clinic's FASTChoice website. Complete the "Borrowing Essentials" module, then proceed through the loan options to compare a sample of available lenders. Your private student loan lender options are not limited to those included on this resource. Continue through the loan application process. Your lender will send you additional required paperwork to complete. Please complete these forms as soon as possible.
