The AMA Journal of Ethics® is a peer-reviewed journal that exists to help students and clinicians navigate ethical decisions in service to patients and society by offering cases and commentary; policy, history, law, art, and education discussions; journal-based, audio, and video CME; podcasts; visuals; and more. Anatomic & Clinical Pathology

1-2 weeks | Selective

Students will experience the broad range of pathology and its role as a vital component of surgical and medical care, spanning infectious disease, rheumatology, oncology diagnosis and prognosis, and transplantation, while understanding diverse and cutting-edge diagnostic techniques.

Anatomic Pathology

1-2 weeks | Selective

Shadow pathologists, as they examine the pathologic findings in various specimens, observing techniques for preparing gross and microscopic pathology specimens and learning more about the role of the pathologist in patient care. Students may also have the opportunity to observe an autopsy.

Anatomy Dissection: A Hands-on Team Based Approach

1-2 weeks | Selective

This selective is aimed to reinforce anatomy knowledge for students who have completed the Year 1 MCASOM Anatomy Course, leveraging laboratory-based learning that includes hands-on cadaveric dissection and opportunity for strengthening non-technical skills.

Anesthesiology

This one-week selective experience provides early exposure to the field of Anesthesiology, where the student will shadow an anesthesia provider in the operating room and see physiology and pharmacology in action.

Behavioral Neurology

1-2 weeks, 3-8 weeks | Selective

Students will be responsible for evaluating the patients initially, taking a history, and performing a behavioral examination, as well as a general neurologic examination on all patients except those who are referred from within the Neurology Department.
