Mental illness is often portrayed in movies, influencing public perception and stigma of mental health conditions. In this selective, we discuss the value these movies bring to discussions of mental health and how we as medical professionals can be aware of how this can impact our practice.
Students in pathology spend their rotation in the anatomic & clinical pathology laboratories that support the hospital and clinic services. They are exposed to many facets of anatomic & clinical pathology. Including a variety of general surgical pathology, cytology & hematopathology, including gross anatomic & microscopic examination.
Students will experience the broad range of pathology and its role as a vital component of surgical and medical care, spanning infectious disease, rheumatology, oncology diagnosis and prognosis, and transplantation, while understanding diverse and cutting-edge diagnostic techniques.
Shadow pathologists, as they examine the pathologic findings in various specimens, observing techniques for preparing gross and microscopic pathology specimens and learning more about the role of the pathologist in patient care. Students may also have the opportunity to observe an autopsy.
Providing advanced learners an opportunity to work with stakeholders to co-create a clinically relevant anatomy curriculum. Appealing to students who are interested in clinical anatomy and medical education. The goal of the selective is to revise a component of the MCASOM Arizona anatomy curriculum holistically to prepare learners for summative course assessments, USMLE Step 1, clerkships, and clinical practice.
This selective is aimed to reinforce anatomy knowledge for students who have completed the Year 1 MCASOM Anatomy Course, leveraging laboratory-based learning that includes hands-on cadaveric dissection and opportunity for strengthening non-technical skills.

This one-week selective experience provides early exposure to the field of Anesthesiology, where the student will shadow an anesthesia provider in the operating room and see physiology and pharmacology in action.
