The participant will obtain exposure to both the inpatient and outpatient practice of blood and marrow transplantation (BMT) as well as exposure to the integral laboratories that are part of the practice of BMT.
Develop the skills necessary to evaluate & treat a breast complaint efficiently & appropriately. Focused on refining breast examination technique & imaging interpretation, enhanced appreciation of normal breast variation, and more!
During the cardiovascular inpatient floor rotation, you will be a member of an interprofessional team caring for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.
Aimed to equip medical students with a solid conceptual and clinical understanding of ECG interpretation. Through interactive self-directed lectures and regular practice, students will develop the foundational skills to become competent and confident in ECG interpretation.
Students will be introduced to the performance and interpretation of echocardiographic studies as they apply to cardiovascular diseases. This selective will also help students gain a basic understanding of echocardiographic and Doppler methods of assessing cardiovascular anatomy and hemodynamics.
This selective will expose students to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The student will observe evaluation of cardiac rhythm problems with discussion in conference of management and electrophysiology procedures in the electrophysiology lab.
This selective will emphasize the physiologic basis for clinical manifestations and therapy of cardiovascular diseases. Students will be introduced to the interpretation of common cardiovascular diagnostic procedures and work with a Cardiologist on the cardiology inpatient consultation service.
Students will observe coronary, non-coronary, and endovascular interventions in the cath lab. Students will be exposed to all aspects of interventions, including routine and complex angioplasty, rotational atherectomy, thrombectomy, distal protection devices, and stenting.
On the Cardiovascular Diseases Service, students are responsible for evaluating patients, presenting them to the supervising consultant, and following the patients' care.
This selective will introduce students to cardiovascular medicine through specialty sessions such as Harvey simulations, research workshops, echocardiogram, cardiac anatomy, imaging, interventional skills, ECG basics, AI applications in cardiology, career exploration, and community engagement.
