Students learn about the medical and surgical management of patients with arthritic or damaged joints and failed implants. The student will observe how an Orthopedic Surgeon assesses and manages pre-operative, operative and immediate post-operative concerns for a variety of joint conditions.
Students will shadow in the Otolaryngology outpatient clinic and learn more about how specialists in Otolaryngology evaluate and treat patients with problems of the ear, nose, and head and neck region.
ENT is uniquely defined by anatomical region, rather than an organ system, and thus includes a variety of surgical and medical care. This selective facilitates experienced-based exploration of ENT in a minimal-barriers, low activation-energy way through events taking place over the course of a year.
Giving students experience with a wide range if pathological conditions encountered in the head and neck region. The selective includes exposure to the areas of otology, rhinology, head and neck cancer surgery, laryngology, maxillofacial trauma and facial cosmetic surgery.
Shadow adult neurology residents in their weekly Continuity Clinics, allowing exposure over time to a variety of neurologic pathologies through observation of new patient evaluations, internal consults, and hospital follow-up visits.

Join the interdisciplinary team of pain medicine, physical therapy, psychology, psychiatry, pharmacy, occupational therapy, biofeedback and nursing at the Mayo Clinic Pain Rehabilitation Center’s intensive outpatient program to improve function and quality of life for those with chronic pain.
Based at St. Marys Hospital (SMH), students will work with the SMH inpatient palliative care consult team A or C, seeing inpatient consults with physicians and other practitioners on the multidisciplinary team, including nurse practitioners, social workers, and spiritual health providers.
