Giving students insight into the work of the medical and surgical intensive care unit. Exposing students to all aspects of care to the critically ill. Potential exposure to a wide variety of patient illness and ability to observe and potentially participate in procedural aspects of critical care medicine.
This selective course offers students the opportunity to experience the critical care physician’s role within a team of healthcare providers. Designed by the Critical Care Interest Group, this course provides a hybrid of both virtual and in-person experiences.
Culinary medicine is critical to the maintenance of health, representing a cornerstone that marries nutrition through cooking with nutrition and health care principles. The experience will be longitudinal in nature and encompass hands-on, interactive courses with self-directed opportunities.
This selective will introduce students to evidence-based medicine through the basic tenets of searching the medical literature utilizing citation databases with a focus on PubMed, the use of MeSH (Medical Subject Headings), keywords and saving searches.
The dermatology rotation is offered to help students acquire basic knowledge of dermatology. This knowledge should allow students to determine a correct diagnosis and understand the management of basic dermatologic disease.
Students will shadow various consulting staff and dermatology residents primarily in the clinic setting. In addition, students may have the opportunity to shadow dermatology providers on hospital service and during procedures.
The Department of Dermatology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona offers a full range of dermatologic care for both common and rare problems of the skin. Students will gain experience in the evaluation and management of dermatologic disease in an outpatient setting.
This longitudinal virtual selective provides the fundamentals for the diagnosis and management of skin, hair, nail and mucosal disorders. The lectures are carefully crafted to address practice gaps, learning objectives, and evidence-based management with references for further study.
