Complex Dermatology

1-2 weeks, 3-8 weeks | Selective

The basic knowledge of dermatology should allow students to determine a correct diagnosis and understand the management of basic dermatologic disease. In addition, students will learn to recognize categories of dermatologic diseases requiring referral to a dermatologist.

Critical Care

1-2 weeks, 3-8 weeks | Selective

The critical care service includes a core of physicians who care for critically ill patients in the intensive care units. Daily activities include morning and afternoon rounds, didactic lectures and tutorials, and bedside clinical teaching.

Critical Care Medicine

Giving students insight into the work of the medical and surgical intensive care unit. Exposing students to all aspects of care to the critically ill. Potential exposure to a wide variety of patient illness and ability to observe and potentially participate in procedural aspects of critical care medicine.

Culinary Medicine I

Longitudinal | Selective

Culinary medicine is critical to the maintenance of health, representing a cornerstone that marries nutrition through cooking with nutrition and health care principles. The experience will be longitudinal in nature and encompass hands-on, interactive courses with self-directed opportunities.

Database Searching for Medical Literature

1-2 weeks | Selective

This selective will introduce students to evidence-based medicine through the basic tenets of searching the medical literature utilizing citation databases with a focus on PubMed, the use of MeSH (Medical Subject Headings), keywords and saving searches.

The dermatology rotation is offered to help students acquire basic knowledge of dermatology. This knowledge should allow students to determine a correct diagnosis and understand the management of basic dermatologic disease.

Students will shadow various consulting staff and dermatology residents primarily in the clinic setting. In addition, students may have the opportunity to shadow dermatology providers on hospital service and during procedures.
