Program description

The Hospital-Based Massage Therapy Course at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, offers a unique opportunity for professional massage therapists to enhance their skills and advance their practice in the acute care hospital setting. 

This five-week course is for established massage therapists who want to learn how to alleviate pain and treat health conditions in a hospital setting.

Through the course, you will receive a comprehensive review of therapeutic relationship building, learn treatment planning and a team-based approach to integrative health care, and how to navigate and document medical records.

Learners complete course content using an online learning management system. The in-depth discussions, hands-on training, and interactive sessions are geared to increase knowledge, performance, and patient outcomes. In turn, this course allows participants to experience self-exploration. After completing the coursework, learners participate in an experiential learning opportunity interacting directly with patients at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

  • Following the five-week online training session, students will complete an experiential learning experience at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, which includes an internship and shadowing

All students and faculty are expected to be vaccinated for COVID-19 before coming to campus.
