Licensure

Allopathic

Registration with the Florida Board of Medicine is required before beginning your residency program. This process requires two to three months to complete. Please complete the Application for Registration as an Unlicensed Allopathic Physician form in your MedHub onboarding package as soon as possible. The top of the first page of the form has been pre-filled with the appropriate information.

  • If you have not been issued a medical school diploma, you must enclose an original letter addressed to the Florida Board of Medicine from your medical school noting the date of graduation.
  • Submit the completed application, supporting documentation and payment directly to the Florida Board of Medicine. Mayo Clinic will provide reimbursement once you begin your training program. Your education program coordinator will assist you with the process. Please retain your receipt for submission.

Note: If any area of the application is left blank, it will be returned and will delay processing your application as well as your Mayo appointment.

Osteopathic

Registration with the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine is required before beginning your residency program. This process requires two to three months to complete. Please complete the Application for Registration as an Unlicensed Osteopathic Physician form in your MedHub onboarding package as soon as possible.

  • Be sure to read all instructions and include any documentation requested.
  • Submit the completed application, supporting documentation and payment directly to the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine. Mayo Clinic will provide reimbursement once you begin your training program. Your education program coordinator will assist you with the process. Please retain your receipt for submission.

Exam deadlines

Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education (MCSGME) requires that your final licensing exams be taken as follows:

 MCSGME deadline
US/Canadian graduates and international medical graduates By May 1 of first MCSGME appointment training year*
Trainees who have completed or are completing the required ACGME** accredited training at another institution Exam taken and score results received prior to start date

*Off-cycle trainees to complete requirement within first ten months of training
