Professional Licensure and Certification Disclosures

Federal regulations require Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science (MCCMS) to disclose whether its programs meet U.S. jurisdictions' educational requirements for licensure or certification.

Admission into, or completion of, MCCMS programs for professions that require licensure or certification does not guarantee that students will obtain a license or certificate. Licensure and certification requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with MCCMS, and these requirements can change at any time. Changes in requirements can impact a program's ability to meet educational requirements for licensure.

Student responsibility

Students should review the specific academic requirements for licensure or certification in the occupation and state/territory in which they intend to practice. Many licensure boards have additional requirements beyond successful degree completion to obtain a license (including those related to practicum/internship as well as pre-qualifications for licensure such as the need for a criminal background check). It is the responsibility of students enrolled in programs designed to lead to licensure or certification to check with the relevant board(s) in their states/territories of residence and in the states/territories in which they intend to obtain a license or certification for the most recent information and requirements. MCCMS shall not be held liable if the student is unable to qualify for licensure or certification in any jurisdiction or cannot obtain a practicum/internship location.
